"You'll be able to find us - it's usually not that busy. If you can't find the coffeehouse, it's in the first floor of the church building on the southeast corner of New York and East streets. You can park in the church lot."

Oooh! I've been reading a good one lately - "Jim and Casper Go To Church". The basic premise is that Jim Henderson "bought" athiest Matt Casper and together they went on a tour of a dozen or so US churches, from mini to mega. One of the tag lines is, "Did Jesus tell you guys to do this?"

So, one of the things I'd like to explore with y'all is - what are the assumptions that we have as Christians (or whatever we are) about what church should be? What are the assumptions that you perceive churches have about the people who attend?

I'll post some more questions here as they come up. As always, feel free to bring your questions or just come to hang out in a space where you can honestly explore questions of God, life, and the way of Jesus.

    ok, i've been a member of this meetup for like quite a while and I even rsvp to come to some of the meetings, but i just have to get my courage up to actually come since i don't really know anyone. so maybe tomorrow i'll actually show up. sorry for being a joiner and not a participator so far. :)

    I would be interested in hearing others' thoughts about what their expectations of a pastor are; what role(s) should a pastor fulfill?

    there's only three copies of the book in the library system and they're all out! i'm second in line for the hold so i hope i can read it (didn't do such a good time the first time i had it out) before the meet up!
