And love covers a multitude of sins. Would we not expect that those who do not understand the love of God would imprison and beat us. But what was Christ's response? Forgive them for they know not what they do. He did not retaliate, he did not deal angrily with them, he loved. And in loving, MANY are saved. Fellow believers, may we also love for the salvation of many. His kingdom will come and His will be done, all we are called to do is love.
I John 3:16 &18 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
Let us use our words to build up all people and not to bring down. If we can't say something nice, it is best as James notes, that we would say nothing at all. All people are potential members of the body and so this scripture is for all people! Not that you should just be kind to fellow Christians. We are commanded to love God and others. All others. See I Cor 13 if you need a refresher of what love is and what it is not. It thinks no evil and does not behave rudely.
If we have not unconditional love we should cry out for it. For without it there will be no unity. The kingdom of God is not in the brain, its in the heart and the hands. In our loving and our giving.
His,
Gina
