"I wish Tamara's question had been answered. Something that comes from Tamara's experiences (living one year in Jerusalem and in her journeys in the M.E.) was enough to know the impact of the Great Commandment when living in the midst of other faith traditions as a minority. Other faiths bump up against you and impact you. Drastically. I can say that 3 years in the midst of both great traditions, Judaism and Islam, challenged, impacted and changed my faith. The Christianity I had going in was 180 degress different than the ensuing Christianity I gained coming back from Jerusalem. I bore people to death now, I'm afraid, quoting Rabbis, but let me quote one that I think speaks to me the spirit of Jesus: "Better is one hour of repentance and good deeds in this world than the entire life of the world to come"--R. Yacob, in Pirke Avot. Reminds me of much the same kind of insight of another R. Yacob, Christ's humble brother James the Just, says in his special book. "
