Meeting Description
Organized by
- Steve K. (Co-organizer)
Details
This will be our last cohort gathering before the BIG EVENT -- "Everything Must Change" with Brian McLaren and Friends in Charlotte (at Area 15), February 1-2, 2008! We'll probably talk quite a bit about what to expect at the EMC event, but also whatever else is on people's hearts and minds.
Come out and talk about what you've been reading/thinking/feeling, ask questions, engage in this dialogue and develop friendships. This is one of the few places of "refuge" where this conversation is happening in Charlotte. We hope you'll add your voice to the discussion -- online (on the message board) and in person!

"What a great group. I love the energy and diversity of this group. I feel like I can be who I am and presuppositions are not made about that. It was so fun to put faces and names together and I really enjoyed meeting Schaap!" -
Steve K.
"It was another amazing, different conversation -- just like it is every month! New people, new voices, new perspectives. It was just a rich, encouraging, hopeful discussion. I love this group!" -

"(being authentic) At first I didn't feel overly welcomed (of course Steve greeted me and welcomed me) but I envisioned an emergent group practicing radical hospitality. Once the conversation started there was a level of comfort and safety and I felt more like a participant in the community rather than a spectator. I really came to "check it out" with no expectations other than to see what God is doing in Charlotte through the Emergent Cohort. I am all about great conversation, but the conversation must lead us to action and living out the true message of Jesus Christ, otherwise, it's just a Sunday School class that meets on a Tuesday Night without the leaflets. Majenta gave me the statement I was looking for when she said "God has changed my life through this group." "

"Neat venue - great folks - powerful and interesting and funny and heartbreaking conversation. Thanks all - I'm so glad I was able to make it - totally worth the 4 hr round trip! Well, almost totally. :)"
